The designs for Atreus Dawn created a total environment that was both Greek and futuristic.

The designs for Atreus Dawn created a total environment that was both Greek and futuristic.

Being set in 'the past. the future. now.' , I began my design process by researching other visionary designs and conceptualizations of the future including those for Blade Runner, 1984, Brave New World, We, Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari, Metropolis, and Things to Come.

Influenced by the script and the clean technological beats of the music, the future became stream-lined - a place in which technology was hidden to create the sense of simplicity.
The alter was designed as a large back-raked platform just slightly off-center. This sacred space became Iphigenia's world and supported the central concept that the entire story takes place in the single moment before her sacrifice.

Hanging the Oracle in space allowed for a stunning climax when Iphigenia climbs into the cage with the Pythia to breath the vapors of Apollo and see into the future.
